beginning, rubbish, environment, traffic jam to footstall problems.

North Sumatra government efforts to decrease digital divide

All efforts have been done North Sumatra Government with stake holders to decrease
digital divide. Planning to build 100 villages digital (Kampoeng digital), 20 tourism village digital ( Kampoeng wisata digital), 150 school on line, 100 mosque digital, 100 government community digital, 10 library digital and 100 small medium enterprise center have been implemented one by one.

One of region, called Terang Bulan village ( KampoengTerang Bulan) have been implementing successfully North Sumatra Government idea. Terang Bulan Village take is not far from Medan, the capital city of North Sumatra, about 17 km.

Terang Bulan is only remote village with 500 populations with varieties ethnic, domination Javanese, karonese, bataknese, and padang.
The populations have varieties profession, as farmer, employer, publish service, teacher, small medium enterprise.

To find education is difficult there, take 1,5 km for Elementary school, and junior high school and one must go out village to attend senior high school.

Brilliants idea, remote villages that have not telephone network, to build wireless tower point to point, in order to access internet. The young generations worked together, to achieve their dreaming.The simple infrastructure, create many entrepreneurs
from the village,

1.They begin to learn how to use internet, browsing email and searching strategies.

2. Create e commerce and selling village products.

3.Training web design for empower skill.

Using internet, they begin to know how to market on net and create net entrepreneurs. Finally, they must know the internet marketing strategies.

East Java Government empower Batik designer


Batik is traditional culture from Indonesia that so popular around the world.

Indonesia has million archipelagos with different culture and language so that
you find different batik design in every region. The performance of batik design
follows culture philosophy of the region. It will look different between Pekalongan
batik, Yogya Batik, Sidoarjo Batik, Madura Batik and others.

Traditional culture to design batik using canting, seem not to be interested in by young generations, so that there is no regeneration. Lack of human resources to design batik, make batik production decrease, although few foreigners seem interested in learning batik designing.


Empower Batik entrepreneurs, government try to build village center (Kampoeng Batik). Kampoeng Batik called, specific region that has activity: design batik, showroom, promotion and transaction.
The Kampoeng Batik or center of Batik Home Industry had been built at Surabaya as capital city of East Java and Sidoarjo as popular with volcano mud.

Function government here, giving stimulant, capital, motivation, help to promote
batik product and give information how to get personal right (patent) from Government.

Few Asia countries try to decrease digital divide problem through brilliant strategies.
India tries building Tele centers that gives public service at open areas. Indonesia
as developing country at south East Asia tries building Digital villages, Mosques
digitals, Libraries digitals, Small Medium Enterprise digitals, tourism digital and school on line at remote area.

The purposes of efforts above to support decreasing digital divide problems,
to achieve World Community information that had been planned by 180 countries
world wide on 2015.

Korea as Asia Country that move faster in ICT than others Developing Countries
in Asia, aid to give improving in human resources.

Through improvement of using Internet Technology, Asian make progress in business.
Marketing uses ICT, can reduce transactions cost while increasing the speed and reliability of transactions.

The strategies of Indonesia Government to decrease digital divide

Indonesia as developing country has many problems to decrease digital divide. Challenges that Indonesia must face, as internal barriers, lack of skills on ICT use, culture, beside external barriers, as lack of regulatory frame work and security issues.
Indonesia ICT Award 2008 (INAiCTA), one of Indonesia effort to make progress in ICT.
INAICTA is special program to give awards in order to motivate ICT industries in Indonesia. We can say that INAICTA is program for APICTA preparation. APICTA is ICT Award program in Pacific Asia. According to calendar schedule, APICTA will be held on November 12 – 16, 2008 at JCC Jakarta Indonesia.

Programs that INAICTA will take place at Jakarta, beginning March 2008, as
1.Beginning road show and publication program
2.Business matching program
3.Workshop
4. Exhibition.
INAICTA program has purposes, to give motivation to ICT Industries, and gives chance to the best contestant to sell and meet investors.
There are 10 categories that INAICTA give to contestant;

3.e Education, e entertainment,
4.Supply chain management, tool & infrastructure, research & development, student project
